Community Tasting Notes (16) Avg Score: 91.8 points

  • Prior bottle was just over a year ago and this wine continues to show well, with incremental positive improvement (as expected). Nose was virtually identical to my prior bottle with red raspberry, red berries and forest floor notes. Medium bodied with silky and rounded red cherry upfront along with some brighter red berry notes behind. Mid-body shows good depth and brings in red raspberry, but in more balanced form than previously. Tart red cherry, acidity, light spices and mineral notes on the backside and through the finish. As hoped, this wine has improved on both the overall balance front as well as integrating more harmoniously. Drinking quite well now and in a fashion it should be able to hold for at least another couple of years.

  • Prior bottle was just over a year ago and my notes were consistent. Red raspberry, red berries, forest floor and spice notes on the nose. Medium bodied with a very similar fruit profile: red cherry and red berries upfront, red raspberry through the middle and then tart fruit notes on the backside. Acidity and spice notes on the backside remain notable contributors, and in a positive fashion. Seems to to have opened up a little bit more through the middle and the fruit is becoming slightly more expressive (as I'd hoped). There's a bit more acidity and spices here than are typical for a Chanin pinot, but that's a style variance, the wine itself shows quite well. Needs about 3 hours open to really show its best. I will save my last bottle for Fall 2021, but it will easily last beyond that.
