I want to report a wine theft and re-labeling. Someone stole this syrah from the Rocks District in WA and stuck the RLF label on it. It has the Rocks funk, spice, bacon flavors and mouth feel, with syrah power. Definitely not a pinot. Hard to know how to score this. If it’s truly what it tastes like (WA Rocks if you’re not clear), I’d give it mid-90s.

Seems to be losing strength: our scores go 95, 94, 93, 92 over a year. It's still a beauty, full of Pinot flavors and smooth as silk, just not as powerful as it was a year ago. Maybe it's the continuing deterioration of our taste buds :(

Ripe red cherry fruit with lots mineral elements, cool ash notes and a fine smoky overlay. Fresh and stylistically surprisingly cool on the palate despite the ripeness in the fruit. Firm texture with structural tannin. Intense and powerful yet harmonious. Intensity continued to increasing with time in the glass. You need to know what to expect here... if you're into refined, elegant Old World Pinot, hands off! But I love the alternate Pinot reality this opens up.
