Mandarin, menthol, thyme, with linden blossom on the nose. Impressive fruit forward vibrancy as mandarin competes with sweet cherry on the tongue. Beautiful balancing astringency on the tongue while the fulsomeness of the fruit somehow lingers somewhere in the black of the mouth (perhaps the soft palate?). It was a bit of a gamble to hold this wine for all these years. This bet hit the jackpot!!!

Cellared since release in a warmer than textbook cellar reaching 18° to 19° C in summer. Ruby to black with orange hue in thin layers. The nose delivers from the start (starting with 15°C) different fruits like blueberries (immediately after pouring), blackberries, black cherries. Pencil shavings, terpenoids like fir, bay leaf. Given the complexity and intensity of the nose, it could be a Cru classé with a mid 90 points score. On the palate it is a little bit light and even thin first, but it puts on weight and intensity with some air and time from the glass. Not as complex as the nose, but really at least very good with tannins much more integrated and balanced than I encountered the last bottle. Extended airing over hours from the bottle gives a wine that lost most of its nuances but keeps its intensity. This wine holds through and withstands the time in a way playing above its league. Nevertheless I guess it is a good idea to have a close look at the evolution if you have some bottles in your cellar. It is still a race between tannins and fruit. 5/13/15/8. -2030? For optimists -2040+.

Ten years since last note, but had some bottles in-between which were'nt adequately aired I guess or simply not ready, however this one is talking with a little air. Looks bold and young, smells young too. Sweet nose is packed with delicate aromas of ripe, little red berries and some flowers too, light-hearted and nothing grave, no earth at all, so fluid and a bit etherial. Not perfectly balanced though, but what a wine for a Cru Bourgeois. Glad to have found this left over, remaining one or two bottles won't wait for long.

Drank from Magnum. Still youthful. Slightly muted nose of ripe berries and cherry. Pleasant in the mouth with still tannins left. Not very intense though, good with food (lamb)
