  • Very dark ruby/purple color. The nose is very shy and a very classic expression of old-style medoc wines (not unlike Sociando Mallet). However, the nose is ripe and there are hints of wood showing as well. On the palate, it showed none of the charm experienced when I drank a bottle of this wine. Even 99 Medocs seem to go into a dumb phase - at least this one is. It's very chewy in the mouth and I wonder whether too much tannin has been extracted. In the finish, the tannins really make their presence felt. After some hours, the wine opened up a little and the mid-palate filled out. But it remained somewhat rustic and tannic. I will keep the remaining bottles for a few years and hope the tannins melt away without drying out. We'll see whether it is worth the wait... Drink 2008-2012
