I have no right to critique a viognier that can be pnp'd after 7 years, but am duty-bound so here goes: This is an amazingly weighty wine for the varietal, ponderous, viscous and formidable. The floral notes give way to apricot and some glycerin/petrol, and the finish is a bit too dominated by alcohol. There is still plenty of fruit, and I bet this could pass for a Muffato or similar sweet wine when served at refrigerator temperature. An admirable effort, just not one evidencing typicity to the viognier grape.

Pop and pour. Wow - big floral and ripe tropical fruit nose. Palate is round and lush with ripe fruit and medium acidity. Delicious fruit and spice flavors. Rich and tightly knit across the mid-palate. Medium plus finish.

CellarTracker Texas Offline II - Part One (oskiwawa's house in McKinney, Texas): Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of match stick, mixed yellow fruits, basil and flowers. Flavors of yellow pears, guava and minerals. Medium acidity, medium body. Drink now. 92?

Delicious wine on a hot day at a friend's birthday. Long finish. Who says viognier can't age?
