  • "Plump with fresh black fruit extract; scented of drafting studio. By looks and taste I might guess it wrongly to be <4 years old, and I doubt I could guess the variety. It's a triumphant example of preservation though the core dulls a bit with bitter resin and twiggy fudge liquor. Decanted clear, left open for two hours. 88 points"

Well ahbeedam! I would never have posted that yesterday had I known. Today I walked the half empty bottle over to see David and Melissa at MCW. I was not expecting the smell to be so fetching—filled with volumes of choice berries and a subtle floral ambience. The drink was a pleasure, too. There was nothing remotely dull, twiggy or out of balance about it. Sheesh.

  • Wonderful wine.
Aromas of raspberries, blackberries, spices, earthy, with herbal/green elements.
Flavours repeat aromas. A berry kirsch-like flavour ... not heavy or sappy but sweet-ish. Medium acidity, nice drying dusty tannins but not overpowering.
Mouthfeel: Freshness and sappiness and midweight for the overall wine. Medium length to the finish.

  • Clear deep ruby/garnet; clean medium plus nose of green pepper, barnyard, yeast and blackberry jam; dry; high acidity; medium plus tannins; medium plus alcohol; medium body; medium plus flavour intensity; palate is tarter with addition of black licorice, cocoa and black raspberry; long finish; still going strong - drink now or in a few years; fantastic wine that’s aging beautifully; a testament to Pearl Morissette’s lovely winemaking
