  Pale neon green color. Very expressive and varietally typical nose of sweet pear, lychee, heady perfumed floral notes, some roasted spices and a hint of grapey character. The wine is full-bodied, rich and oily on the palate with quite sweet and very complex flavors of pronounced spicy notes, honey, lychee, some rosewater, a little bit of mushroomy character, a hint of leather and a touch of overripe stone fruits. The decadent body and concentrated flavors seem to overwhelm the rather modest acidity of the wine, making it come across a bit too heavy and lacking freshness. The finish is quite sweet, even a bit cloying, with flavors of ripe citrus fruits, sweet apples, powerful and even a bit coarse spicy character, some leather, a little bit of mushroomy character and hints of perfumed rosewater and exotic flowers.
  
  An interesting, powerful and hedonistic Grand Cru Gewurztraminer with some obvious residual sugar sweetness overwhelming much of the wine. With higher acidity, the wine could feel quite balanced, but now it comes across pretty heavy, a bit flabby and slightly cloying. I guess with more age the wine could turn out to be a bit more balanced, but I'd still serve it quite well chilled, just to push the acidity up a little. As the wine shows good aging potential for a Gewurztraminer, there's no need to pop a bottle open before 2020.
