  • Our guests loved this. I understand why. It was extraordinarily pleasant on the nose and palate. It didn't strike anyone as past its prime, but it is certainly ready to drink and will soon be past its prime. Yet it lacked any of the characteristics one would expect of a German or Alsatian reisling. It was more like a somewhat-less-sweet dessert wine. We followed this up with a 1990 Alsatian reisling that blew our guests away and showed them what they should really expect of this grape. American reislings are just different, and they are a hollow comparison to the real thing.

  • Nose of apricots, some spice, but a bit thin on the palate... the medium sweetness seems to be hiding the slightly hollow palate weight. Good finish, but could use a bit more complexity. Nice crisp acidity offsets the sweetness. Good everyday wine.
