solid bordeaux. everything integrated at this point...maybe a bit too smooth for those like a bit more personality (rustic, more secondary flavors) but wine has good balance and length. My wife it more than I and she leans toward new world and I lean old world.

Opened to a nice barnyard earthy nose. Very Bordeaux, and very 2003. Rich, ripe, viscous and dense on the palate. Very classy wine, but the ripeness of the vintage doesn't do it for me. Very well made though. While I wouldn't buy more of these, it bodes very well for my 2005 Bertrands. I'll give them at least another 5 years before I try one, but if my guess is right, that will be a superlative wine.

Promising wine, especially for the price. Dominant notes of earth, herbs, and dark fruit. All a bit masked by still strong tannins. Once this mellows out in a few more years it will be a very good wine to drink with food -- I expect the fruit to become a bit more prominent without losing the earth/mineral backbone that marks this as a clear Bordeaux. I'd drink between 2012-2015

Wine Crawl 10: Bordeaux blends (San Francisco): Nose of tobacco, campfire smoke, grilled bell pepper, dark berry liqueur. Flavors of savory cured tobacco, cassis, with subtle wood accents. Lightly structured; shows a little alcohol on the finish. Young and a little tight but really tasty and complex in an old school style. My 1/3, group's 3/3. Tasted blind.

Full bodied, muscular bordeaux. Nice finish, good balance. Drink or hold.
