Then you have a 40-year-old WHITE port. How this aged so well is still beyond me. Caramel-toffee goodness on the nose with the palate being loaded with freshness and elegance. Dried fruit dominates the aftertaste with notes of mandarin, apricot and fig. Eternal finish. Wow.

During a Matter of Taste walkabout tasting, so only brief impressions. Very good quality, refined and complex (dried fruit, nutty, orange peel), not too oxidative, stays fresh on the palate despite age and weight. I can see the bar trend now why mixing this with Tonic can rival a good Gin Tonic. Also, with aged soft cheese this is surely sublime.

Dalva White Vertical (P81): Spicy and burnt honey flavors with a lovely touch of hazelnuts. Quite complex. Slightly sweet but in a good balance with a solid freshness. Impressive aftertaste and a lovely touch of sherry notes (rancio). Very impressive wine that very much has the flavors of an aged Malt Whisky.

2015 Port Harvest Tour; 9/26/2015-10/3/2015 (Portugal): Subdued nose. Not a lot of discernible aromas coming off the nose right now. Some orange peel on the nose and still some hear. Buttery smooth caramel notes on the palate, with some tropical fruit underneath. Medium-full bodied with bright acidity.

2013 Port Harvest Tour; 9/27/2013-10/6/2013 (Porto, Portugal): Bottled in 2013. This wine is scheduled to be released in a few weeks. Very pale yellow in color. There are lemon and citrus notes on the palate, and some alcohol is also present. Good acidity, with tangerines on the very long finish.
