Decanted and followed over five-plus hours, then tried the last glass five days later. The wine is asleep. After three hours or so I could taste something other than tannins and alcohol and what I tasted was delicious earth and mocha, but it was so reticent. A bit better five days later and the acid was more pronounced but I think it's shut down and needs time to come through this phase. Possibly an off bottle? Will try again in a while or when someone else posts a note. 93+ with plenty of upside.

Second time I have this wine and enjoyed as much as the first one. Decanted for only 50-60 minutes and drank last in a very powerful lineup (Schrader CCS ‘05, CADE Reserve ‘13, Nine Suns Cab ‘15, AO Dr. Crane ‘14) and still showed and stand graciously.
Tannins and structure to go the distance, best days ahead. Licorice, bold and long finish.

Wuaooo, dark and bold baby! I love the mineralogy and long finish of this wine. My favorite of the whole tasting, it will surely get even better by 2022 and after....

Dark ruby with violet hues. A touch smokey on the nose with sweet tobacco, herbs, spices, dust and a touch of plum. Moderate plus tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Solid acidity and backbone, built for the long haul. Dark and deep fruits, dried ones too, a bit of herbs and perfumey as well. Long and slightly dry lingering finish. Drink till 2030. (93+)

Napa Visit with wine makers and owners; 2/3/2017-2/8/2017 (Napa, CA): Higher acidity than Scanlon. Lacks fruit.
Dusty fruit with strong tannins 8/10. Floral notes on the palate.
Not yet fully integrated.
