  • On sale and decided to revisit from around a year and a half ago. Similar thoughts. Purple fruit - blackberry, currants, dark cherry, and plum. Smooth mid-palate with solid depth/concentration - medium plus body. Nice flavors of cassis, some spice, plum, and a little graphite component. Decent finish but not overly long nor deep. Popped/poured but drank out of a decanter for a couple hours. Not much improvement with time but appears to be at a nice drinking point. A solid cab from a challenging vintage. Once again, in my opinion more or less in line with the 93+ rating from WA. 100% cab.

  • Picked-up a bottle of the 2018 vintage in light of Galloni’s 94 rating and Julian Fayard’s involvement. However, the owners of the store said the 2018 vintage needs some time (as expected) and to try the 2017 vintage which according to them is drinking quite well. A pleasant surprise - I haven’t been a big fan of most 2017 Napa cabs. Purple fruit - blackberry, currants, dark cherry, and some plum. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and solid depth/concentration - medium plus body. Nice flavors of dark berries, cassis, some spice, and a little mineral component. Fairly long finish. Decanted for one hour and drank over a couple more. Improved a little with time but drinking well after the decant. In my opinion, more or less in line with the 93+ rating from WA. Quality fruit - I look forward to the 2018 vintage with some more time. 100% cab.

  • PNP ready to go. Blackberry, black cherry, graphite and oak. Dense fruit, smooth tannins, full bodied. Ready to drink now.

  • Poured into my glass and allowed to warm up over 30-60 minutes. Cedar planks, dried berries, virgin wool sweater, and a hint of grilled guava fill my sinus cavity. I couldn’t help myself. Before I realize it, my mouth is filled by this gentle beast. She brings blueberries the size of a child’s fist that she had kept in a lovely little dollhouse made of walnut wood. These plump balls burst as they hit your tongue it turns out they are filled to the brim with soft but structured tannins—what a nice surprise! Quite tannic, but not overbearing and almost “silky”. I think slightly better in a couple years but I like it now.
