A private dinner (Restaurant Mont Blanc, Amsterdam, NL): The last time I tasted this, it was in 2017 at restaurant Paul Bocuse *** in Collonges au Mont d'Or, when Monsieur Paul was still alive. A wonderful memory. The Chartreuse was as impressive then as it is today. Silky-sweet, rich herbal expression and a smooth texture, huge alcoholic power and flavour concentration, touch of liquorice on the finish. Will clear anyone's catarrh, to quote Michael Broadbent.

Celebrating 2021, welcoming 2022 (Bellingham): I love this as a digestif. I first tried the VEP at the Hotel Royal Champagne, at the recommendation of the restaurant and bar staff. I finally was able to procure some outside of Portland the last time we visited. Last night, we did a side by side tasting comparing this with the regular Chartreuse Verte. The VEP "exceptionally long aging" version was easily my favorite, although not for everyone who tried it. It's far more polished, precise and complex. It's worth the effort to find, and the extra expense.

A private lunch (Restaurant Paul Bocuse ***, Collonges au Mont d'Or, France): From Jeroboam. Similar in style to the normal Chartreuse Verte, but it is both deeper and more refined and the herbal expression seems to have much greater precision and definition. Rich and gentle, enveloping palate, silky-sweet and the 54% ABV are barely noticeable there - even if they leave quite a kick on the finish with a touch of liquorice. Compared to the standard version the mark-up is considerable, but I understand why.

Wine lunch with friends: Non vintage V.E.P. but it is in cellar since the early 90's.
A real humbling experience in term of bouquet and complexity.
Upon opening the bottle the smell immediately radiates in the room.
If i had to describe it to someone who only had classic chartreuse, it would be just more, more length, more complexity, more refinment, more emotion.
The length is tremendous, such a pity it is this expensive nowadays!
One of the best digestive on earth.
