Served en magnum. Like the ‘03 Morey 1er also served en magnum this was also dark and brooding but did have Gevrey underbrush character and a fairly open nose. Slightly burnt back end of the finish. 92

(from magnum). Fresh and crunchy sour cherries. With a longer decant, mature strawberry and more roundness developed. I preferred the freshness without decant so would recommend a pop and pour.

From 1.5L...... A very strong nose of pungent red fruit like pomegranate and sour red cherry with hint of an interesting spice combination of gingersnap, nutmeg, and possibly rosemary / sage. The palate was equally strong with red fruit, adding dried cranberry to the sour red cherry and pomegranate with that itsy bitsy hint of herbs. Medium acidity, and virtually no tannins which leads to a looooong soft finish. After several hours in the decanter, the herbal notes faded, putting the fruit more front & center, and some cola creeped in. A mineral / iron element developed on the very end of the finish. Helluva nice bottle for a less than stellar vintage!

91 pts
