  • Best bottle since December (and probably the best stored), but still showing just over the peak. Fruit is very round, but with a precision and focus, particularly with the citrus and orchard fruit. Stone fruits are a bit more restrained and the minerality less piercing. This is reflected in the less pinging acid backbone, but there is a lovely hazelnut and buerre noisette note emerging. Very nice run and delicious with lobster.

  • Definitely in a better place than the last bottle, but also shows evidence of a decline. Citrus and stone fruits aplenty, though some sweet fermenting cabbage and early suggestions of boiled nuts are creeping in. Texturally lovely and the acid backbone still holds things together.

  • Just at the beginning of a decline, there is lots of fleshy orchard fruit and lemon curd here. Hints of brown butter and hazelnut, there is a rich creaminess that has enough acid to offset it, but lacks of some of textural interest previous bottles showed. Warm and embracing, but a far cry from the piercing definition and precise layering of flavours of the last two bottles.

  • I'm not sure if this was better than my last bottle or if I just forgot how bloody delicious this wine actually is. Purity and finesse in heaps, backed by beautiful lemon scented orchard fruits and just the perfect kiss of oak. Wonderfully structured, there is real limestone backbone and a long creamy peach finish with really livening acidity. The value is incredible here.

  • The beauty of white Burgundy distilled in a single glass - gorgeous lemon curd with a touch of nectarine. There is a mineral purity on the mid-palate. This manages to be so pure and clean while expansive and deep. Not the most pround Chardonnay you will have, but it hits every point you want. Stunning value for Burgundy as well.
