There are baked black plums, dark chocolate, roasted almond and grilled meat on the nose. Delicious ground spices in the undertones. Minerals, vanilla cream, olives, licorice and juicy plums on entry and balancing freshness in the medium-bodied mid-palate. Good transitions from the start to the end. Finish is spicy and creamy but with some bitter tannins in the aftertaste. Need more time for the tannins to soften, even after 2 hours in the decanter. Great nose and good mid-palate palate but letdown by the somewhat tannic finish. Probably can keep for another 3 years for the tannins to integrate well into the structure.

Truffle Cheese Night (Extra Space): Tasted blind. Pop and poured. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of smoke, toasted oak, ash, burnt rubber, dark red cherries, black cherries. Developing. On the palate, dry, medium acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), fine high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of smoke, ash, cedar, dark red cherries, black cherries, blackberries. Long finish. Very good quality. What this lacks in refinement and finesse, it makes up in structure and complexity. Drink over next 3 years. From old vines.
