Of the range of wines offered at Porter Creek, the pinot noir did not rank for me near the top; they seemed to lack something (ill-defined perhaps). See my note from 2020. Now I see that this was perhaps a factor of age, for this wine is singing right now. Darth Nectar advised to drink sooner rather than later - back in 2018. Those who followed such advice would be disappointed today. Clear ruby color, somewhat muted aroma; on the palate there is lush, ripe, opulent cherry fruit, moderate - high acidity giving a crisp tartness, spice, excellent length in a prolonged finish.

Supposedly still got three of these though I am wondering where they all are in that case. A solid, functional wine that, in my view, lacks that sparkle that many competing pinots possess. Dark, inky red, somewhat muted aroma, smooth palate, moderate acidity, lots of black fruit, a little spice, mild tannins.

Porter Creek tasting room visit. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is not clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of musky animal, leathery meat, dark red cherries, chalky minerality. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.3%), good grippy medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of animal meat, chalk, leather, wild dark red cherries. Long finish. Good quality. Interesting though somewhat rustic. Drink sooner rather than later. Fiona Hill is a steep hillside vineyard situated along Russian River Valley Westside Road at the entrance of Porter Creek.

Vibrant fruit with a touch of sweetness, classic RRV Pinot fruit, perhaps a little less sous bois than I like, but there is a line of savouriness in the mid-palate.

Drank a few nights ago and didn't take any detailed notes, bit recall being very impressed with this wine.
