  • Ordered off the list of the now closed Keiko a Nob Hill in San Francisco back in January 2020, Japanese French restaurant famed for an incredible selection of French reds (the owner/somm supposedly has 3 cellars around the world and is also has deep knowledge of wine, like a human encylopedia). This was decanted by the restaurant for an hour, and enjoyed right on time past the lobster dishes and dead perfect with the grilled animal proteins. Really good earthiness, bright sharp acidity, and a gorgeous bouquet on the nose. Don't get to drink much red Burgundy, but this was a nice treat and a fantastic food wine.

  • Translucent crimson color. Earthy nose to start, leavened by violets and subtle minerality. This starts with some sweet black and blue berry flavors on the otherwise lithe palate. This really lingers on the back of the tongue, with notes of chalkboard and a bright, floral sweetness. This finishes somewhat astringent, with moderately strong acidity. Very elegant for Pommard, this represents good work in a challenging vintage. Probably best to wait another 3-7 years for this to reach peak drinking.
