The nose was gorgeous, showing sweet mineral-infused black cherry and spice with dusty earth and hints of animal musk. On the palate, I found soft textures contrasted by zesty acidity in a poised expression, showing tart cherry and savory herbs. It finished medium-long with lingering acids and tart cherry with hints of fine tannin that lasted long. The dark, earthy minerality on the nose of the Chezeaux Griotte was mesmerizing.

Burgundy Tasting-Mostly 2014 Whites and Reds (The Wine Club, San Francisco): Medium ruby. Very perfumed at this early stage. Light to middle weight. Naturally sweet, pure red fruit with perfect cranberry acidity, gentle soil throughout, and outstanding length. I loved the balance and elegance of this wine-outstanding Gevrey Grand Cru! It seems to have gathered itself and filled in since I last tasted it in the fall.

Burgunday-Tastings Around Town (K&L Wines, San Francisco and San Francisco Wine Trading Company): Red center, light rim. Strawberry and brett on the nose. Very light weight even accounting for the fact that it is a Gevrey Grand Cru. Nice red fruit, citric lift, some soil, lowish tannins. Pretty but lacking depth and length. I'd drink this early, which is an odd thing to say about a Griotte.
