I opened the bottle 3 hours before dinner and it added considerable weight and richness over that time. On the nose, an extraordinary range of red fruits, truffles, star anise and cinnamon. The palate was quite rich for such an old wine, however it was so such pure Pinot, I doubt it had been 'fortified'. For many at dinner, the wine of the night. As often happens, the last sip was the best.....perhaps I should buy more magnums instead !
