Pure intense and defined fruit of sour cherry and rhubarb, an alluring earthy base with minty herbs, rooibos and fruit tea, and meaty elements. Pure Pinot fruit also on the palate. The only fly in the ointment was that this could have done with a bit more structure to match the fabulous nose. But presence was consistent into the finish, where there’s even a touch of tannin. Not decanted and none needed. Early stage of the drinking window here.

Thursday Cellar Visits in Burgundy - Prieure-Roch, Mugneret-Gibourg and David Duband (Cote d'Or (Mostly)): Tasting at the domaine. Seemingly the most floral of the 2014s. Moderate concentration, moderate weight, this has pretty fruit but also seems to show less nuanced or complex flavors vs most of the other 2014 Grand Cru cuvees. clearly needing time in the cellar, perhaps this is just the most shut down of the lineup.

Well balanced. A little young but very beautiful bouquet. A little tight on the finish. Still needs time.
