Decanted 30 min. Got better as it sat in the decanter, but this is a monster wine. Lots of oak and some heat initially. Earthy, and tons of blueberry, blackberry and licorice. Some leather flavors as well. But too much vanilla oak at this point. It could use another couple of years (hopefully), or a lot more air time in the decanter. Going to leave it out overnight and see how things are at that stage. Initial score: 90 points.
Day 2: Same nose, but more smooth and integrated on the palate, although the oak still seems to be prevalent. Bottom line, hold this one for another couple years at least, and hope that the Stelvin closure allows proper aging of the wine...

Big wine, lots of oak. Blue and black fruit, vanillin/oak, and earth flavors abound. Damn tasty wine, but a couple more years of bottle age may benefit, but screwcap closure, so...maybe not. Right now, I would decant, and/or enjoy with food.

Black raspberry, blackberry, eucalyptus, a little mud on the nose. Explosion of black raspberry, blackberry jam up front. Sweet licorice, vanilla mid-palate. More black raspberry, blackberry, saddle leather, hint of cedar and cinnamon on the finish. Very nice.
