  • Ok so I will do a 2 part review on this...you can tell this one will change quite a bit after it has sat in a decanter for an hour. From the bottle, super cool nose, ripe raspberry and even approaching the jammy level of ripeness. A smokey vegetal component I love, almost like burnt onion you get when roasting potatoes and onions together, really nice. Light garnet color...medium body. On the palate, quite old world...nice vegetal, Herbal tones. Bay leaf, rosemary...then full fruit in the mid-palate, red cherry and blackberry. Nice grippy tannins, assertive but balanced with the rest of the wine's profile. Have to say initially this wine is exceeding my expectations. .....ok so after an hour the nose turns kirsch-like. it is much deeper on the fruit, the tannins round out and it turns very smooth and rich. Gotta say for 13 bucks the qpr on this one is awesome, really delicious southern rhone with excellent typicity, old world charm and really well-suited for stewed or braised meats.
