Past its prime in my opinion. Fruit has given way to cough syrup, alcohol shining through unpleasantly, muted rosemary and thyme most present on the nose. Good structure in terms of tannin alcohol and acidity, but not enough balance from anything else to keep it interesting.

Domaine Coudoulis' 2017 Lirac is a deep ruby, Grenache-dominated blend. This particular bottle was Vinturi-decanted and serially sampled over the ensuing three hours. Fully opening after two hours in decanter, it serves up briary aromas of red bramble fruits, Montmorency cherries, Provençal herbs, cocoa and loamy earth. Medium-to-full-bodied, fresh, softly oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (despite being listed as 15%), it delivers flavors that mirror the nose, adding notes of black pepper and licorice. With a solid mid-palate, silky tannins and a medium-length finish, this is a well-priced Southern Rhone that performs well above its pay grade. It should be at its best over the next 2-3 years. Drink now-2024.

PNP, lovely dark fruit, plum, currants, cassis, a bit of terroir showing on the finish, spicy notes, some tannins to integrate. Overall a very good Lirac for the $$, appears to have enough structure to even improve over the next couple of years.

Solid fruit, Blueberry- Raspberry & Plum with Earthy Fennel notes. A little tight on opening but expansive fruit after an hour or so. Good balance, a long dry finish - paired well with slightly spicy food.

Elements of Wine 2020 - My Class at GnG; 8/30/2020-12/27/2020 (Grapes & Grains, Temecula, CA): Didn't get a great feel for this wine, so, maybe see my note on the 2016 vintage. If I remember correctly, that wine improved on the second day after being open. I suspect this would be better with an extra day too.
