  • Served to accompany starter of pigeon breast. Fairly well chilled, opened and poured. I think it's staggering just how well this wine is developing. Continuing to improve on my previous tastings which were a couple of years ago. Rich, full, minerality, lime, apples. I think this is probably now at its peak, but I don't think there is any hurry to drink. An excellent example of Tasmanian chardonnay from a top, modern winery.

  • Tasted this side by side with the Langmeil 2016 Spring Fever Chardonnay, which has a lot less acidity although it's a full year younger than the Chromy.

In Sweden, the Chromy is only about 3 A$ more, while the Australian prices for the Chromy, that pops up when I google, are about twice the price if not more than the Langmeil. The Chromy is several notches better and offers quite a value for chardonnay in the oaked and fruity style, here in Sweden.

Very charming nose with butter, toasted hazelnuts, Nivea hand cream, almond milk, lime juice, some orange rind preserve. Good acidity, quite some weight on this wine, a little sting from the alcohol and/or oak on the finish, which is decent and tangy.

Perhaps I lack some complexity, and it's a little full on while the mid palate is largely missing in action, but the nose is really charming and the finish tangy so if you are not averse to new oak in your chardonnay, you could do much worse than this, and certainly pay a lot more for equal quality from say California (once again, looking at it from a QPR based on Swedish prices).

  • My second time tasting this wine since visiting the winery last December. Light lime colour and nose. A classy wine, more old world in style reflcting the Tasmanian cool climate. Well balanced. Starting to develop nicely, no hurry to drink.
