One year already! Kept in my Vintec at 15C, bottle not quite standing up but with no contact with the crown. Some meatiness, coffeeish flavor, but overall disappointing, watery, low bitterness, no length at all. No concentration of flavours. Next one in a year.

Calm, balanced, understated, and particularly so given the style but I guess Chimay has never really been a beer to get in your face. Some chocolate, not sweet, perhaps more dry coco than anything else. Not a structure that suggests cellaring but history will conclusively prove otherwise.

Words that come to mind are yeasty and meaty, low to medium bitterness, medium to long length. Good balance, very pleasant overall. Not a stout but a dark ale that needs a chalice or a wine glass. Well hidden 9%, hopefully the complexity will increase with age, I will try the next one in a year.

Not in the better half of examples tried but still solid. Soft, chocolate, a little funk; fading so won’t be long lived.
