Wimps Free For All - October 2022 Oruro (La Trompette): Love this. Some discussion at the table whether it was a bit blustery, a bit obvious - well maybe so, but like Jack Daniel’s or Starbucks coffee - it’s good and delicious and does what it’s supposed to. A hint of cherry cola - without the sweetness - wrapped around a gently tannic core. Reminds me of a 2010 Tollot Beaut corton bressandes. I could clearly taste the 15 Riverby was the better wine, and I’m glad to have more in my cellar, but this…woof.

Had been so excited to try this stellar German “Pinot Noix” in the classic Burgundian style. Nose does not disappoint, fantastically rich black cherry, maraschino cherry, dried rose petal, tobacco and vanilla coming together for a truly intoxicating aroma. Palate is silky black fruit with a mineral backbone and a very long but subtle finish of violet, dried herbs and spices. A wonderful advert for the superb quality possible with German Pinot Noir. 93+

Made with lots of new oak, which has started to come around and integrate. Not my favourite style, but a good wine nonetheless.

Wimps Free For All - October 2022 Oruro (La Trompette): Good intensity on the nose and palate. A nice ferrous minerality (tsk!) but also grenadine and sour cherry fruit. Rather wonderful!
