Okay, 2 years later: it was kind of out of control on night one, with the beauty of the Nerello buried under heat, acid, and general unrest (for lack of a better term). Yet on Day 2 this is dreamy: bright cherry, well balanced, all the notes of terroir and dirt and what we expect from a well-built Etna Rosso.

Red cherry, strawberry, earth and spices on the nose. Medium bodied (15.5% ABV) with a mix of soft red cherry and brighter, acidity backed red cherry upfront. Really pretty through the mid-body with good density and open and expressive red cherry, darker cherry notes and raspberry towards the back. Finishes with tart red cherry, cranberry, balanced tannins and pleasant acidity to go along with mineral notes and light spices. There was good length as well as very good integration between mid-body and finish. This wine wasn't hot or acidity dominated in any fashion. To the contrary, the mid-body in particular showed elegance and depth and was tied in very neatly with the finish. This was nearly as good as the 2012 and a noticeable step ahead of the 2013. Feels like it's still on the upswing and should show quite well over the next 3-4 years. Glad I waited this long and I'll certainly keep my eyes open for additional bottles.

15.5% abv and you can really taste it. This bottle was thin, hot, spicy, and overly high acid. The bright fruit of the Nerello was buried under all of that. Decanted, put in the fridge to cool it down, waited 24 hour hours, then 48 and it just never became an enjoyable wine. Maybe an off bottle? I hope so.

Fine boned red fruits. Really gathers weight with air. The first night it’s a bit high toned with quite zippy acid. On night two there is more sweet dark fruit. Quite grippy tannins as well to close. Definitely will be better in a couple of years. Really top quality juice.

lite obalanserad. För mycket bitter syra på slutet.
