  • Crisp and smooth at the same time, exhibiting ripe fruit on the palate contrasted by strong minerality. The aromas on the nose started out tart and savoury, with lemon, green melon, pineapple, ginger, and minerals presenting themselves. The fruits on the palate were much richer - lemon/lime, mandarin, pear, yellow apples, ripe melon, and papaya – while notes of ginger, chalk, and minerality maintained their strength to provide suitable balance. The finish gave a strong sense of spiced pear. The acidity was high, though not unpleasant, and thanks to the full fruit and a slight creaminess, the body was more moderate than light. Made from native Italian Pecorino grapes, the wine reminded me of Alsatian Pinot Gris – refreshing and notably mineral, yet full of rich fruit. This is a great middle-ground option for anyone who generally leans to either end of the white wine spectrum; it presents you with a little of everything. It would also no doubt be a great pairing for a wide range of foods, particularly seafood dishes. Above all, it’s always fun to try these uncommon varietals and know that you’re helping to keep at least one less vineyard from being overtaken by Chardonnay!

  • Citrus and tropical fruit notes on the nose, more tropical fruit on the palate, smooth, decent body for a white, well balanced, medium finish. I enjoy this wine in a bucket of ice on a hot summer day. I previously mentioned that the 2014 vintage was sweet - that is incorrect. I was confused by the many layers of fruit, which seemed sweet, but actually it's a relatively dry wine. Tested it with spicy food, and it did not mesh well with the heat. The Pecorino grape results in a unique wine that I enjoy. Will buy again.
