Decanted, with a little sediment. Garnet, and significant bricking at the rim. Clear and bright.
On opening, this bottle had some slight VA on the nose. Not providing strong vinegar notes, but just some straw and cooked fruit, as well as a sharpness. This did give the wine some volatile lift but wasn't lovely. With time in the decanter, most of that has blown off. Underneath, it's revealed dried strawberries, raspberry and cherry, as well as some blackcurrant. Tertiary notes of leather are developing too adding to a savouriness to the whole wine. Touch of oak, integrated though.
On the palate, the wine is sweet on entry, with some dried and cooked red fruits, as well as leather. The acid is medium+ and tangy, with low tannin. Finish is medium. I think this is now a little bit tired, and might have been better 3-5years ago but well worth a try.

Tasted at Caviste spring tasting, Hampshire, UK. Owner Mark Bedford opened this as a bonus wine to compare alongside the regular pinot (which I liked very much). Colour is medium Burgundian. Rich, strawberry nose. But the palate is still slightly harsh, so maybe this still needs more time. At the moment I wouldn't pay nearly double for the Robinson Valley, I'd stick to their regular pinot. But probably good potential for 2-3 years time.

Mornington Peninsula (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Again slight stalks for me but the fruit is prettier and there are touches of jubiness to the berries; rather lovely nose. Juicy tending to blackberries here, long, easy. Rather lovely

Powerful nose of dark cherry and bitter-tinged raspberry leaf. Quite different in the mouth: a kaleidoscope of aromas, cherries, strawberry preserves, mint, soy, herbs. Comes across as slightly sweet in the mouth due to the ripe fruit and the (well integrated, unobtrusive) oak. Baking spices developing with air Tannins are imperceptible. Quite enjoyable now but should integrate more with time.

All about the fruit. Destemmed so great fruit character, all about cherry, blackberry, violets and pepper on the finish.
