  • Purchased at the estate - that sort of warehouse on the west end of the village as I recall - and then carried back in a six bottle box when you could still carry wine onto an airplane. Last bottle. Baby sister if you will of the 1996. Toastiness emerging with a citrusy note still there. Very floral on the nose in an earthy way - can't quite describe it. Unusually extracted for a champage as is the 1996. I think the wine talking heads who talk about singular wines like Clos des Goisses, and perhaps even Krug's Clos des Mesnil need to look at Cuvee Nicole.

  • 1995 Pierre Monquit Cuvée Nicole Moncuit à Le Mesnil, Champagne, France
Medium to dark yellow color. Scents of dark bread and wheat toast. Medium bodied with a sweet core of fruit, a light and forward nature, juicy and chewy and deliciously linear and symmetrical. Pure and refined with a somewhat short finish. A forward and easy drinking Champagne with small bubbles.
