Decanted ~2 hours, one glass consumed over ~30 minutes. This bottle struck me as very similar to what's described in notes from pintag & grafstrb: cooler-climate in character versus other Tercero Syrah's I've had, showing dark berry fruit, a touch of something savory/meaty, and a whiff of smoke. High-toned, slightly volatile acidity and mild tannins. I liked this, although the acid was slightly offputting to a couple of those who partook.

My sister double-blinded me on this, though, full disclosure, I did see that it was a screw cap and I know that she has been to the tasting room in recent years. In any case, I immediately identified this as having "Tercero Perfume". I have had this wine several times before, and I knew it was a Syrah and guessed "White Hawk Vineyard" because of the high-toned acidity, 2014 vintage. Needless to say, my sister was in awe of my blind tasting skills, despite the clues that were there. :)

Similar to my last bottle from 2.5 years ago. That is, good varietal Syrah meaty and bloody character, with some aggressive acidity that sticks out a bit, throwing the balance off. Still very good, but does not reach the heights of some of the other excellent Tercero Syrahs.

NOSE: dark fruits; savory; high-toned aspect --- Kalamata olives, perhaps; dark and smoky with a hint of mineral.
BODY: very dark violet-black color of great depth; medium to medium-full bodied.
TASTE: juicy --- good acidity; tannins seem to be resolved; 14.4% alc. is a little noticeable; savory plum; very nice. Gut impression score: 91.

Rather sour on initial pop and pour. The sourness dissipated leaving notes of cherries on the palate.
