  • Last enjoyed this vintage in December of 2019. It was good then - it has gotten better. When I tasted this vintage in 2018 I suggested it might not have the structure for the longer haul. Well... I was not correct as it is better now than it was three years ago!

  • Paired well with cleaning the house for family pictures. No one is upset and now even the dogs are clean. But I am hungry.

  • Such an outstanding value!! But as importantly, this is a really good wine! It was exactly one year ago that I last tasted this vintage. That year has been good to the wine. It is more supple now, more integrated. It was excellent on Christmas Day in 2018. It was outstanding on Christmas Eve 2019. "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night."

  • Slightly chilled, then given an ≈40 min decant into a cylindrical plastic pitcher which was then closed; Private Preserve after Day 1; 398 cases made.

N: RIPE, JAMMY boys with earth, poss pyrazines WAY below?

P: MF body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish boysenberry/blk cherry frt (approaching threshold R.S.?) met by a bit of astringent pucker which stays in contact with the init frt as it fairly seamlessly morphs into quite a LONG, BALANCED finish with an alluring tangy/swtness to the innocuous, yet still firming, dusty tannins. Probably @ its apex, but I can see it hold through '22. VERY nicely done! 14.1% ABV; My EXC/EXC+ (92-95/100 using that metric)in its frt forward style. // Day 2: Held up well, & I'd say it CERTAINLY has the structure to drink nicely through '22. 93 pts WA (Kelley), 92 WE (7/1/17) @ $42, & Double Gold @ '17 S.F. Chronicle Wine Comp.
