  • Big inky looking Syrah in the glass, but not over powering. Has mellowed wonderfully. A lot of sediment on half the bottle. from laying down. Wonderful mouth feel with velvety coating. Anise, fennel, braised meat essences. Lovely dark fruit on the blackberry side and notes of the French oak vanilla. Pairing with fennel sausage pizza and it's a hit....Great Red Mountain wine that makes me want to explore other from this winery.

  • Double decanted

    Significant sediment.

Spice, dark fruit, long broad tannins.

    Works well with stilton

  • Oops, I just read my note from 2019 and drank before I was supposed to. I double decanted. This is a big inky Syrah. Anise and concentrated fruit. It has a lingering smokiness that makes this wine very interesting…fruit and smoke. It’s almost pitch black in the glass with a rich nose. It will easily sit several more years but I’m not sure how it will develop.

  • Straight out of the bottle it was concentrated and deep dark berry. Very tight and astringent. My wife described it as unripend cranberries.

After 4 hours decanted and a run through a vinituri it really softened. The alcohol on the nose was gone and what was left was full and soft. I picked up toasted dried cherry. Plenty of structure to sustain several more years. The flavors are blending well as they mature. I’m gonna try to hold off on my next bottle until late 2022.

  • Opened and decanted for 90 minutes then had with a flank steak and goat cheese dinner. This is a big rich wine. Extravagant nose with rose and dried plum. Mouth feel is dry with tart blackberry. I’d recommend keeping this in the cellar another 1-5 years. Definitely drinkable now with food. By itself it is a bit too much.
