Oak was very apparent when first opened but my taste adjusted as we drank it, medium bodied with big flavor, profile, lots of complexity and good structure between oak and fruit, drank easily as the meal went on, we love Chalone wines so some sentimentality may have seeped into my thoughts, will drink again although it is getting more difficult to find the newly revamped Chalone wines. Drank with tilelfish from the Jersey shore.

We like this wine, balanced, oak is well integrated, medium bodied, lots of flavor but acid keeps it going, drank with lobster salad, complex with good structure, will drink again.

Rich but very well balanced. Acidity and alcohol (14.5%) balance out buttery oak. Citrus, vanilla, green apple and toast on the nose. Buttery palate with citrus, toast and green apple. Will benefit from time in the bottle.

Big chardonnay, lots of oak but the wine is balanced, I am not a fan of oak but Chalone pulls it off, this reserve wine is more balanced than the regular bottling, a rich wine, wine drinks well as it never gets tiring as many oaky wines have a tendency to do, drank with skate and black cod, will drink again, should age will, a good value.

Vanilla with a hint of oak. In the Burgundian style.
