Shows the strength of the vintage, as this was still very alive and rather interesting. Dark crimson core, just a little age showing at the edge. Aromas of plum, black cherry and white pepper with meaty overtones. Flavors of plum and sour red cherries. Medium finish. Woudl have scored higher if not for the sour edge to the fruit.

A fine example of the appellation and grape (gamay). Smooth and not grapey like some wines from the area. Went perfectly well with Thai red rice and beef.

I let this one breathe for about an hour. Perfect. Fruit (cherry type flavors) present but not overpowering. Tannins well in check. Very smooth and easy drinking. No 90 points because the flavors ere not that deep. Nevertheless, very enjoyable. By the way, super QPR at $7-9.
Day 2 -- fruit had faded meaningfully and the wine was not as smooth, but it was still decent. Still, I recommend drinking the full bottle within the same day/evening.

Ii usually like wines more geriatric than most other people, but I perceive this wine as being a little tired. The fruit seems dried out, leaving substantial acids and a fair amout of wood. Sems to blossom after being open for a half bottle, revealing that strawberry Beaujolais nose, but still seems just a bit past its prime. Pizza break through some of the wood and tannin.

(Georges Dubœuf Chiroubles) Group's #1 (my #1) – 16 pts; 3 first place votes, 0 second place votes, 1 third, 1 last place – rich nose with bacon notes; nice, light-medium bodied, with some depth, tangy, more delineated than the rest, and lowest in acid; medium-plus finish (easiest drinking now)

This wine has nice fruit. Spicy nose, nice cherry flavors, but maybe a little past it's prime. A little heavy on the oak. Slightly sour. Drink up.
