  • Grapes sourced from Bouzy Grand Cru vineyards. Based on the vintage 2013 (80%) with 20% reserve wines. 90% Pinot Noir, 10% Chardonnay, 5 g/l dosage. Bottled in 2014, disgorged on March 3rd 2017. 12% alcohol.

Pale yellow color. Quite dark-toned and somewhat toasty nose, although there feels a faint hint of sappy greenness. Aromas of ripe red apples, sharp Granny Smith apples, some dark-toned Pinot fruit, a little bit of toasty autolysis, a hint of steely minerality and a touch of green herbal character. The wine is medium-bodied, steely and acid-driven on the palate with pronounced steely minerality, some toasty autolysis, a little bit of green apples, a hint of chalky bitterness and a touch of tangy citrus fruits. The dark-toned Pinot characteristics from the nose are nowhere to be found on the palate. The yeasty autolysis turns towards biscuits and light hints of caramel with air. The mousse is fine, rather soft and quite persistent. The finish is pretty long and mouth-cleansing with flavors of ripe apples, tart citrus fruits, some biscuity toasty character, a little bit of steely minerality, a hint of fresh white fruits and a touch of chalky bitterness.

A very classic, sophisticated and balanced Pinot Noir-driven Champagne. Very nice, gastronomic style that shows some good promise for development in a cellar over short-to-medium term. Perhaps not the most complex and interesting effort out there, but overall very positive new experience.
