Boroli Barolo Cerequio 2012 Decant from bottle for 160mins Still in her youth which takes almost 3 hours to begin open up. Beautiful light garnet orange color, typically color of Barolo with mainly nebbiolo grapes. A conservative nose of flora, rose petals with mainly red fruits, red cherries, raspberries and strawberries. Light spices with toasted fresh herbs, light oak bouquet. Entry was welcome with strong and firm tannins which reflexes her youth even though this wine is already 9 years old. Mid palate is mid to almost full, rich character which is still evoluting, given time probably 4-6 years, shall develope into more distinct identity. Potential for ageing, suggest to be left alone for next 4 years! Overime, high possibility that she may gain higher score given a well cellared condition. 89-91+ pts

Surprisingly advanced nose of strawberry verging on jamminess. Light colored as well a pretty light bodied and there’s something about the nose and the mouthfeel that isn’t quite in synch. Elegant in its own way but high tannin which will require time to resolve. The question is if there is enough stuffing to let that happen with any fruit left. Maybe I’m being unfair, the wine is interesting and in no way bad, just maybe unusual. Also to keep in mind is the vintage itself which in all 2012 I have sampled shows a more austere and lean type. 89-90p

The nose was rich and dark with dried cherries, mint, and earth. With time floral tones added lift on the bouquet. On the palate, I found soft, finessed textures with intense red fruits, before youthful tannin dried out the senses. It finished tart with refined tannins. This was very young, but there’s no doubting its perfect balance and future potential.

Medium plus nose, similar to their Normale. Palate similar as well, some more complexity but for the price point not as good of a value.

Just a touch raisinated. Ample fruit, powerful, with much tannins.
