  • I let this one breath for about seven hours and it still was a little tight when I began drinking it. Dark fruit, smoke and anise jump out of this very rich nose, you can spend plenty of time breathing this one in alone. The palate is slightly leathery but getting more air into it tamps this down. This is a big wine, with dark fruit, black licorice, charcoal and a tinge of earth. A big mouthfeel with a long finish round this out. I have had a couple of bottles of the 2004 vintage which I liked more than this but this was a fine drink.

  • Was really looking forward to a special bottle, love their wines, but disappointed. End of life, not much fruit left. Tight, but did drink without food, will try with dinner tomorrow

  • My final bottle, expectations are low, hopes, high. Still a very dark ruby, with no fading toward the rim - hope is still alive. The nose opens with iodine, blood, severally scorched rocks...hmmm, could be something here. A few minutes in the glass and high-toned red berries emerge, along with some heat and grilled herbs. Full-bodied palate first offers creamy oak (sad), but then some sexy red and blue fruits move in to provide a long, textured finish. I'm going to serve this wine at a party in about 7 hours, I think it's going to show quite nicely. Still, drink 'em if you got 'em. 15,1% abv, score: A-

  • the last one, and my third in the past 18 months. Not getting any better. Unremarkable, full-bodied effort with average complexity and a medium(-) finish. Crack this open if you've already had your fill for the night but others insist on just one more...15,1% abv, score: B, very poor QPR at ~ $44

(Stolpman Angeli) Nice plush black fruit and plum nose with subtle oak; nice peppery, deep black fruit, mineral and fig palate, with notions of graphite, balanced; long finish 92+ pts.
