  • A good showing of Chassagne-Montrachet chardonnay at a reasonable price. Lemon acidity, sweet pear and fresh menthol are accented with light white florals.

Quite nice, but also quite simple. A solid expression of the terroir, but a bit uninspired from a wine making perspective.

A fine wine that I'd buy a few more bottles of to throw into the cellar at the right price. I can see this showing well for another 10 years.

  • last bottle! The aromatic material on this wine (just as other bottles) shows some great layering of hazelnut, chamomile, honeyed flowers, lemon custard and a bit of apple coming through but the palate seems a bit clipped and monolithic compared to tasting this a few years back. No signs of premox, perhaps just in an odd drinking window? Quite high in acid and with the lean palate, it does come across as short and simple for 1er Cru. I would like to try again. Based on this bottle, there is no rush.

  • I tried to be funny by setting a blind tasting for myself between this and a $3 boxed Chardonnay.

    Joke's on me. Premox.
