An excellent tasting. Rich dark plum, dark chocolate, mocha and cherry liqueur - some savoury notes and spice. Palate similar but much darker berry fruits, savoury notes and licorice.
This can go for a long time - years ahead.

Auckland trip day one (Waiheke Island, Westmere, Auckland): Decanted for thirty minutes. I don’t remember this wine being this good - it's a pretty handy Bordeaux blend in the unripe spectrum. Needed the decant but opened up really well. Lots of cedar, pencil shavings, black currant and red berry, slight herbaceous notes and chewy, though quite supple, tannins.

Grand Cru Cabernet (pyrmont wharf, sydney): Perfumed but slightly unripe blackcurrant and plums, sweet spice. Merlot lends weight to the mid palate, tannins are grippy, raspy and quite drying. Fresh acidity.. Medium plus length. Hmm. I think I prefer their Shiraz

Similar to previous. Big full bodied blend. Almost minty. Rich. Getting a bit old but still good.
