Liquid gold. Intense aromas of butterscotch, lemon candy, vanilla, warm bread dough, a little mushroom and wet gravel. The palate confirms and has a wonderful balance between fruit and tart acid.

Maven's theme back in April or May was Burgundy (white) and this was one of the two in my allocation. Firstly, somewhat unusual is the age of the wine; secondly, it was absolutely delightful. Pretty classic, concentrated nutty, honeyed, with loads of minerality - you can sense the terroir. My only disappointment was that Dulcie, being out of Cupcake, drank half of it. Leaving me wanting more, more, more.

Martine's Wines - Portfolio Tasting (Sofitel - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Slight floral notes to start with flavors and aromas of apple and quince. Fun and enjoyable already, but good textures and structural support. Very good for its level.
