Excited for this I’ve had the ‘15 by Anakota and it was fantastic, plus I love Knights Valley!
Nose is sandalwood, gravel, some graphite, blueberries. Concentrated fruit, eucalyptus, herbs, leather, and there is a dense dusty heaviness as well. Savory qualities like olives and soy sauce, black licorice. There are just so many qualities this wine has to offer.
Heavy body with a ton of flavor, incredibly silky mouthfeel and very well integrated tannins. Darker flavors like blackberries, blueberries, and cacao mix in with heavy minerality and dark roast coffee grounds. This has qualities reminiscent of a petit Verdot almost, it’s so heavy but retains a lot of the cab qualities.
Savory aspects to this as well, there is plenty of fruit in existence here, it’s just dark and concentrated. Everything is actually combined into a very impressive balance, a wonderful job of blending primary, secondary, tertiary, flavors and mouthfeel, dryness, etc. This wine really shines here as notes tend to complement each other, like the simultaneously heavy and smooth mouthfeel.
So much to like here, a little bit for everyone and a great middle ground of old and new world. I love it

My first Anakota, enjoyed as part of a trio of 2014s over dinner at Del Frisco’s. I found it to be a mix of red and black fruits. Completely ready to go at pnp—maybe even best then vs an hour later when we were still drinking it. It was the perfect balance of fruit and mineral and herbal complexity for me. I did not notice the meaty Syrah like qualities that others have mentioned in their notes. Would definitely buy.

WINE G and MSUWRIGHT hit the nail on the head with their notes. Wine is made without any flaws. More gravel than fruit, old world style over new world. Great wine, but was hoping for more.

You could fool me and tell me there is Syrah blended in here. MSUWRIGHT tasting note is on-point. Not a bad wine, just kind of not varietally correct. I Got it at discount, otherwise would be a disappointment.
Reminds me of Cayuse style, kinda-sorta..

Excellent. Savory, black fruit, earthy but sweet finish. I didn’t get the barnyard that was suggested by others. It’s in a good place.
