If you are looking for the impact, intensity and the exotic qualities that Barossa Shiraz has become synonymous with, this wine will be your next best friend. It is definitely one of the more impressive wines in the massive style that has become so sought after by the US populous as it maintains its sense of decorum all while taking your senses on a wild ride to the edge of control but never losing its way - a tough act to pull off but the 2005 Beast does just that. Maybe it’s the very high quality of the vintage but this wine reminds me of the 2002 Amon-Ra in more ways than one. A very impressive wine and one that has become an insider’s source of top quality at a mid-level price for the highest end. One of the top rated Shiraz of the 2005 vintage by Tanzer’s IWC. Beautiful one, drinking at its peak. Lovely fruit with superb length. Tannins are fine and integrated.

Wasn't prepared to like this, prior bottle earlier this year was a bit "off" but this bottle was flat out gorgeous, especially with 24 hours of Slow-o. On day 2 the nose just blossoms into beautiful florals, think Grange but not quite on that mark. Lovely, soft palate of red and black fruits. Really wish I'd let the whole bottle sit open a day.

Remarkable fruit quality. Closed but with the intensity of particle trapped in the Hardon colllider. Deep purple black conentrated juice compressed and unable to escape even after several hours ... and this is 12 yo!
