  • Surprised at how light in colour this was but proved fuller on the palate. Good depth of red fruit but also showing some forest floor and leathery meat development.

  • What a way to make an entrance. The nose is a lovely heady mix of red fruits, followed by a more sophisticated blend of bergamot, asian spices and perhaps just a hint of smoke.

Palate. An initial fruit burst of strawberries, raspberries, black and red cherries and redcurrants. As the fruits meld to redcurrants, the welcome acidity starts to kick along with tea tannins and sweet spices.

The mouth feel is full and ripe but despite the ripe fruits, the overall impression is one of intensity without heaviness. Even after 8 years the acidity and tannins provide a firm drying frame to usher the wine down.

Good to go but it has sufficient fruit intensity to last for another few years before the tannin/acids take over.

    Lovely stuff!

  • Quite dry and oak a little to the fore at the moment but this is immense as a Pinot Noir and in a few years time could really shine but difficult to tell right now.

  • Few hours of air in glass container already. Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of toasty oak, concentrated ripe red cherries and strawberries, emerging earth and undergrowth, fragrant stems. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium- tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of concentrated ripe red cherries, sweet strawberries, raspberries, touch of red candy, integrating toasty oak, thin layer of stony minerality, hint of emerging earth undergrowth and steminess. Long finish.
Very very good quality. When the oak fully integrates in about 4-5 years this should be even more amazing. Yabby Lake repping Morning Peninsula and showing that the region is really coming into its own for Pinot Noir.
About 20% whole bunches used I think.
