In a way I’m sad to see this go. This, my last bottle didn’t end on a high note. The raspberry fruit was still in evidence, as was the bright lick of acidity. There was still some earthy mushrooms notes but they were faint and fading. The nose lacked expression and the wine finished short. Of course I’m nitpicking. It was perfectly pleasant, definitely Burgundian and all that. It’s just that my earlier bottles were better, more interesting, more expressive. This one just left me thinking of the price which is never a good way to end a relationship. Let’s remember the better times and move on.
