  • I'm interested in the development of this wine. I bought a case of this in 2017 and have been sampling one every two years or so. 7 years in the cellar and it now seems quite integrated. No more wild natural wine scents and flavours, and the tannins seem tamed, although the acidity is still high. It feels to me like this wine is at its apogee, so then the question is: what's it like and is it good? It is dense but not exuberant, that is, the fruit is not luscious (jammy, berries, etc) but it still feels full and rich. It's very dry and savoury but not herbal or perfumed. It's a hard one to wrap my head around. I would describe it as stern, but not in the punishing tannins kind of way. It is unquestionably an excellently made wine, but my conclusion is that I just don't think Teroldego is for me. I can't imagine anyone doing a better version than Foradori, and so i have to assume that even under the best circumstances, it's not my cup of tea. I absolutely ADORE Foradori's whites, and I think from now on i will stick to them.

  • Full ruby; polished, rich red fruit, fragrant; sophisticated palate, complex, refreshing acidity, so well balanced & integrated; harmonious finish. Drink now & next 5 years.

  • A new one for me. Rich purply red color but surprisingly little aroma. Quite thin and acidic taste. Complex, interesting and not unpleasant but nothing outstanding. Left some for a day two taste.

  • Two years since my last bottle and a big change in the wine. PnP impressions first : the funky smell and flavour so present before is almost completely gone. Nose is actually quite reticent at first. Initial impressions on the palate is that it is quite dry, austere even. Not a lot of joy at the moment, althoughh well balanced... I'm going to decant and see if more fruit emerges with air...

After about an 1.5hr + things are very different. Though the nose is still not enormous, the wine has opened up and taken on some heft. It feels notably thicker and more satisfying, much softer, but not limpid. There is quite a lot of blue/purple fruit flavour coming through now, plummy and blackberry, but with a spice note as well - not like a Syrah, but more savoury, perhaps a hint of dried herbs, and some faint tabacco leaf. Reading my last note, I was reminded of a Morgon, and I think the comparison holds, but it is missing the jammy exuberance of Beaujolais. There is a faint pricklyness on the palate, and a light coating of tannin which is well balanced by the acidity. On the whole, it is still a very savoury wine, but much less severe than when I opened it. It goes very well with food, and seemed sweeter while I was eating than now as I finish the bottle. (I had a slice of apple for desert and that made the wine far too tart.) Best to drink this with meat and richer food. Cheese maybe? A pasta with ragu? I have three bottles left, and I will wait another two years until I open the next one. I'll be interested to see how it develops. Lots of acidity makes me believe it can age, and the fruit is certainly present with air. I'm curious to see whether it will begin to develop tertiary flavours and what they might be.

  • Decanted, based on previous notes, and began to drink. Unusual aroma, perhaps savory not typical. Immediately approachable, not overly acidic or tannic.

Balanced fruit and acidity with soft tannins. Agree with previous comment on "love it or hate it", but hey this is Teroldego a varietal being revived from obscurity as we speak! If you don't like it, don't buy again but the fact that it isn't Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon or the typial wines we are familiar with only enhances it's appeal if one is willing to explore!
