Dark fruit. A little bitter. Better with food than on it's own. Not harsh, but not smooth, somewhere in between that is not satisfying but not displeasing. I suppose it is ok for $25, but a Guigal Cote du Rhone at $15 is no better or worse.

I liked this a lot! Super pronounced aromas; ripe dark fruits, chocolate, liquorice, wet earth. Lively palate, medium bodied, fruity, almost grape fruity, acidity is really high, gives the wine a very energetic finish. Theres also some tannins to dry up the palate a bit. Still young and a bit disjointed, but already delicious. Good potential.

Dense, black fruits, floral on the nose. Palate, very similar, spice, floral, tea, herbal. Alcohol is a bit hot, mid palate a bit thin, but overall OK wine for the price. The Reserva Vinhas Vehas is a big step above this bottling and, in general, worth the extra $. (caveat is when young the Reserva's oak is to much at the fore - see my note on the reserva for same vintage)

Die is mooi donker paars. Tanines zijn ondertussen heerlijk zacht geworden. Zwart fruit en jets bloemigs (viooltje?).
