Tasted blind. Med (+) ruby with a garnet rim. Med nose, with black fruit, red fruit, red flowers, tobacco, black pepper licorice, coffee and oak spice. Palate is dry, consistent with the nose, with med acid and tannins. High alcohol (14.5%). Med + body, flavor intensity and length. Good to very good quality and a great value at $15. 70% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre. Aged in large oak founders for 12 months. Drink now, not likely to improve with further aging. Actually guessed it was a N. Rhone Syrah blend.

SO they are apparently the last village before the Northern Rhone. Or rather Ardeche. And they like the idea that they are the coolest place you can get in the Southern RHone because it preserves acidity.
Has some oxidization going. Smells like a chocolate and cherry thing. On day one. Odd that it tastes oxidized.

Clear with purple hue and bold core Nice red and black berries, meat, blood, olives and a bit herbs Bold and forward, but lacking pace and depth to comply with the alcohol, which becomes disturbingly persistant. (4+11+10+6+50=81)
First wine in the flight: other scores between 79pts and 82pts.

Plums & white pepper on the initial sniff. Syrah comes through. Palate continues the syrah notes wrapped in red grenache fruit. Old cedar frames the wine well. Pleasant earthiness. Clay?
