Coming from the Saar, which is one of the coldest regions able to raise Riesling in Germany, I expected this wine to be light and ethereal, but it was not. This is a true GG in its intensity and power, and the best dry Riesling one from the former Mosel-Saar-Ruwer area I've ever had.
However, there is no denying this is a 'cold-weather' Riesling by its notes - lychee, green apple, pear, a bit of kiwi, also floral in the nose, but really refreshing and aromatic. There is a precision which I can only associate with Scharzhofberger, which makes Egon Müller Prädikats in particular some of the most sought in the entire world. As I wrote above, it has great intensity and really coats your mouth, especially on the second day. However, it lacks enough complexity compared to the top Riesling GGs to be rated higher at this point, although it is a baby and will certainly improve. 94-95(+?)pts.

Tasted after Scharzhofberg Große Lage. Even more airy and aloof, incredibly fine and delicate on the nose - herbs, flowers, yellow stone fruit, wet stones. Absolutely beautiful. On the palate again very delicate and almost weightless. Good acidity, fine fruit. Very mineral, especially towards to sensationally long, saline finish. Breathtaking. 96-97+

Very difficult to judge, because in a really early stage, citrus, salinity, not yet balanced, 90+
